MFJ Enterprises RigPi – Webcam Problem/Missing

I’m aiming to do a small write-up here on this natty piece of gear. At this point I’ll say I am very impressed with how well it operates, but I need to give it a much harder workout before I can really comment.

That might be a short while yet, but I hit one problem which caused me to waste quite a bit of time on before catching on to the cause.

One of the really nice features is the ability to attach any old webcam to the unit. This then can be aimed at the waterfall display on your nice shiny rig. The image then appears in the RigPi software in place of the graphic s meter, so you get that opportunity to remotely use that wonderful tuning feature.

BUT, mine just didn’t want to recognise anything to do with a webcam.

The answer, it turns out I had v1.05 of the software on my unit. V2.0 allows the use of a webcam. I found this in some very obscure little note somewhere.

If you contact MFJ, they may send you a discount code to allow purchase of v2.0 at $5.95 rather than the full $29.95. I believe you had to have purchased after June 2020 to be eligible. You also need to attach your proof of purchase.

I hope this helps someone stop wasting loads of time looking for the video settings, that aren’t there!
